The official birth of the town dates from 25 May 1804, but it was not until 1812 that a first church project was developed by the ordinary engineer Plessis. Very simple project for which the appropriations are scarce. In 1813, 2 new projects are envisaged. The foundations were then established and the side walls elevated in large part; but the end of the Empire stopped the work. At the beginning of 1824, the side walls threatened to collapse. To support them, the construction of the side chapels was decided. 1825: building finally covered. The church will be given to worship only at the end of 1830, and inaugurated by the July monarchy.
