Jam festival
Saturday and Sunday afternoon, the medieval kitchens of the Château du Lude come alive for the preparation of traditional jams. Admire the know-how of our confiturières. The cooking of jams on the old wood stoves of the 19th century require a control of the fire whose temperature must be maintained constant. The fruits from the castle’s vegetable garden, exceptionally open for the occasion, are prepared with evening before being mixed with the sugar which they impregnate for better storage. Jam makers adapt the sugar dose according to the fruit, its maturity and its degree of natural sugar. We do not hesitate to ask them some advice for jams always successful and maybe one or two secrets of manufacture. Strawberries, raspberries, rhubarb, plum or fig, solo or mixed, there is something for everyone. Once cooked, jams are to be enjoyed on tasty pancakes, also prepared on site. The greediest bring a few pots home.
