The Roman Gallo period left many traces to Chênehutte including a town located on the hillside and a bridge that crossed the Loire. In the valley of the «ru of the fountain of hell» the fanum is a visible vestige with its sanctuary and ambulatory. This building was dated to the 2nd century. It should be noted that this fanum has its double on the hill visible by aerial archaeology.
Possibility to complete this visit with the Gallo-Roman Amphitheatre.

These remains of a fanum are none other than a Gallo-Roman temple built in the 2nd century. This sanctuary is square in plan and consists of a central tower called cella and a peripheral gallery. The cella is considered the room where the god resides and only priests can enter.
