église de Saint-Rémy-de-Sillé

Built in the 12th century on the remains of a Gallo-Roman temple, the church of Saint-Rémy de Sillé has been classified as a historical monument since 1912\. Built by the monks of the abbey of Couture au Mans, this Romanesque church is very simple. It has, in fact, only one nave cut off from a transept with two apsidioles. On the middle of the transept rises a square tower surmounted by a slate spire. Following a collapse the nave was shortened in 1696\. The remarkable peculiarities that have earned him his classification are the arrangement of the stones in fern leaves or fish edges on the outside, and on the inside, on the stone pillars, the alternation of russet stones and limestone. The visitor can admire:
* at the entrance of the church on the left, stone baptismal collections from the 16th century,
* to the right of the altar is a bas-relief, also from the 16th century, depicting a prior kneeling before the Virgin holding the child Jesus.
