The Royal Abbey of Epau is the official seat of the 42 departmental councillors. They meet several times a year to discuss the political, social, educational and cultural orientations of the Sarthe department. This room is named after a former president of the department who worked for the restoration of the abbey. The Michel d'Aillières room is open to visitors only during the European Heritage Days.
