Since the construction of the Place du Jet d'eau and the preventive archeology excavation carried out in 2014, INRAP’s interventions have multiplied in the ancient centre of Le Mans. From year to year, archaeologists have collected data and archaeological material in quantity. On the occasion of the 2023 Heritage Days, Stéphane Augry, archaeologist at Inrap, will present an initial archaeological assessment that testifies to the diversity and richness of the city’s heritage. It will specify how preventive archaeology has contributed to the contribution of new knowledge on Manchu monuments and the phenomenon of urban extension.
