Discover this fortified church of the thirteenth century, classified as historical monuments and its altarpieces of the seventeenth century
Built in two successive campaigns between the beginning of the 14th and 15th centuries, the church, in Gothic style with a Latin cross, consists of a nave with a transept preceding a rectangular choir. The complex, covered with vaults on a ribbed arch, originally had a vault room with a chimney, the remains of which remain above the north arm of the transept. It houses three magnificent baroque altarpieces made by the workshop of Jean Tournier from Gourdon (1647-1721). These works in polychrome wood and gilded with leaf, are dedicated to God the Father and the crucifixion (choir), Saint James (south chapel), and the Virgin Mary (north chapel). The painting «The Holy Women» by Jobbé-Duval, gift of Napoleon III to the commune, represents, in a striking shortcut, only the figures of Mary and Mary Magdalene at the time of the miraculous vision of the empty tomb.
