For the European Heritage Days, the court of Pau opens its doors for enriching guided tours.
During this tour, you will discover the Pas-perdus room, the CDAD exhibition on the court, as well as the first bedroom and the portrait room. An exhibition entitled «Robes des gens de justice» will also be offered. You will then have the opportunity to visit the sitting room, the jury deliberation room, and finally the third courtroom (yellow room).

In 1844, a prefectorial commission was finally appointed to study a project to build a courthouse in Pau. On January 7, 1847, King Louis-Philippe signed a law authorizing the city of Pau to transfer land for the construction of this new courthouse. These are the gardens of the old convent of the cordeliers. The architect Latapie drew up the plans for the building, drawing inspiration from the Aix-en-Provence courthouse. He chose grey marble from the Pyrenees to cover the building, which cost 93,000 francs at the time. The foundation stone was laid on November 8, 1847\. On August 21, 1854, the partially completed building hosted a sumptuous ball in honour of Napoleon’s visit to Pau. The inauguration took place on January 3, 1856.
