It all began after a tragedy on September 10, 1964: three US Dax players (Jean Othats, Raymond Albaladejo and Emile Carrère) lost their lives in a car accident while returning from a friendly match. In their memory, Father Michel Devert undertook to restore a ruined chapel located on the heights of Larrivière-Saint-Savin to transform it into a sanctuary dedicated to rugby. It was named "Notre-Dame-du-Rugby". Inaugurated in 1967, it attracts curious people from around the world. Enthusiasts from Ireland, South America, England, Australia... come every year to admire the places. Here, everything revolves around rugby. Even the stained glass windows, which depict the Virgin Mary “at the melee” or “at the touch”. Since 2010, a museum housing no less than 430 players' jerseys, some of which are real rare pieces, has been created next to the chapel. The Friends of Notre-Dame-du-Rugby association offers several free guided tours during the World Cup.

Place of devotion dear to the rugbymen of France and the whole world! Four stained glass windows on the theme of the ovary illuminate the chapel. Inside, you can observe nearly 185 rugby jerseys, testimonies of the players, most of them injured or missing.
Ties and shoes have been donated to the site to pay tribute to a player, whether by families or clubs, in honor of one of their players.
This place evokes deep emotions, striking both for its originality and the importance it has within the sphere of the ovary. A must visit in the Grenadian Country.
