Over the centuries the Château de Mascaraàs has amassed an important collection of pewter articles: pitchers, jugs, bottles, dishes and cutlery for the table.
But pewterware also had other uses: broths, spice jars, different types of syringes, anointing jars of the 17th century, small basins for bloodletting, astonishing implements for collecting bodily fluids and hot water bottles for heating potions – pewterware in the medical sphere.
As part of the tour of the château, an exhibit on pewter objects and their use in everyday life (manufacture, regulatory compliance, markings on pewter articles, and the coats of arms of its owners), will be presented.
