À propos du lieu

Built between the 12th and 14th centuries, the Moulin des Tours de Barbaste and its Romanesque bridge immerse you in the medieval world when you discover one of the most beautiful wonders of Aquitaine, once owned by Henri de Navarre, the future Henri IV. At the edge of the Gélise river, the site of the Moulin des Tours gathers a fortified mill of the early fourteenth century classified Historical Monument in 1889 and a Romanesque bridge (late twelfth century - early thirteenth century) which constituted an important defensive ensemble located on the "Ténarèze". After a terrible fire in 1937, the buildings were rehabilitated and are now open to the public on guided tours. Discover this exceptional site in the footsteps of Henri IV, the most popular of the kings of France, who signed some letters: «Henri, le meunier des tours de Barbaste»!
