The adventure began in 2008 with a «simple» musical picnic «Jazz sur l'herbe». Over the years and with its success, in 2014 it became the “Anglet Jazz Festival” that you know today and which has since been held continuously at the Quintaou Theatre and in the Baroja Park. For this 16th edition of the Anglet Jazz Festival, the «philosophy» remains identical to the previous editions regarding the programming. Namely, welcome confirmed artists from the international scene, artists from Nouvelle-Aquitaine, as well as privilege an eclecticism on the choice of musicians and their projects. A jazz open to all influences from world music or urban music (Latin Jazz, electro jazz for the first time on the festival etc), without denigrating jazz called «classical» or more «traditional», namely hard bop, swing... For this 2023 edition, we will also devote an evening to vocal jazz, which will highlight a Franco-Togolese singer, surrounded by excellent musicians with an international career, not to mention an unprecedented meeting between two prodigies (pianist and guitarist) from the Basque Country and Béarn and the prestigious course!
The last day of the festival «Jazz sur l'Herbe» gives a spotlight to professional artists of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, including emerging groups, very promising, and confirmed artists. A musical quality and a diversity of proposals that will once again be an invitation to discovery for neophyte audiences, and the pleasure of listening to great names in jazz for informed audiences.
