The Abbey of Arthous opens wide the doors of its site doubly classified as Historical Monuments and Museum of France, on the occasion of the European Heritage Days. You will discover its prehistoric art treasures, its new room dedicated to medieval sculptures and the carved chevet that made Arthous famous. Meet his mediators in the exhibition «What’s new in the Middle Ages?» and dispel your misconceptions about a 1,000-year-old era, rediscovered through recent archaeological excavations. And to perfect your knowledge on the local heritage, Anne Berdoy, doctor in medieval history will give a lecture about the «Castelnaux du sud des Landes», Sunday 17 September at 11am. Enjoy entertainment for families and children, Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 am to 1 pm. Guided tours on the history of the abbey will take place at 14:30, 15:30 and 16:30. Those on the theme of the Romanesque sculptures of the bedside will be at 15h and 16h.
