The Archimuse association invites you to discover the Gallian palace. Young and old, let yourself be carried by its tales and legends around its origins and its occupants. Did you know that this place was known in the Middle Ages as a witch’s den?
During a guided tour, come and participate in unique experiences that will allow you to better understand the challenges of heritage conservation.
The interest of this action is to make the young public aware of the stakes of heritage protection through playful workshops. In addition, it makes it possible to value the various actions of heritage actors such as the archaeological society of Bordeaux. The latter is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year.
The visits are divided into two highlights: the discovery of the legend of the witches with visual aids, followed by a short introduction to the issues of heritage and its protection. Finally, we will conclude with a scientific experiment using limestone to show how heritage materials can be degraded. We will make available to them various samples of materials damaged by various factors.
This visit is for an audience aged 6 to 99, and will be offered in French.

The Roman amphitheatre of the Palais-Gallien is the only surviving evidence of the monumental adornment of ancient Burdigala. Built in the 2nd century AD, its destruction, which had long been implicated in barbarian invasions, remains mysterious. However, the latest archaeological excavations have allowed us to lift a part of the veil on the history of the building.
