The Court of Appeal of Limoges is one of 36 French courts of appeal. As a court of the court, it shall, subject to the jurisdiction conferred on other courts, hear and determine judicial, civil and criminal decisions rendered in the first instance.
It also decides on appeal on the judgments of the Courts of First Instance.
The Court of Appeal is organized into three divisions:
* the penal pole: Correctional Appeals Chamber, Investigation Chamber, Sentencing Chamber.
* the civil division: civil chamber and family chamber.
* the economic and social pole: social chamber.
