Private and secret place, the castle of Ormesson is part of a historical domain in the same family since 1630, and opens its doors exceptionally to the public on the occasion of the Heritage Days 2023 for commented visits around the basins and the ground floorground floor of the castle.
Classified as a Historical Monument in 1889, the castle was built in brick and size in the late 16th century. Among its original architectural details, you will surely notice the "horns" (projecting vaults) of the corner pavilions. They are true masterpieces!
Guided tours of the castle and its main reception rooms will allow visitors to discover this mecca of the French literary tradition that today holds the largest private archive in France. Visit: hall, large dining room, large living room, small lounge, music room and library. The first floor is not open as is
From Olivier d'Ormesson, judge-rapporteur of the trial of Fouquet, to Diderot or Marshal Lyautey through His Majesty King Mohamed V of Morocco, and the latest, Count Wladimir d'Ormesson, Ambassador to the Holy See, the greatest authors, Parliamentarians, diplomats and academics lived in these places.
The exhibition in the Orangerie is accessible to all visitors.
