Theatrical visit "These foreigners of the shadow"

On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the Mont-Valérien Memorial invites you to discover the theatrical evocation "These foreigners of the shadow", staged and performed by the Théâtre des Oiseaux. Saturday, September 16 at 6 pm Chosen to highlight the multiple origins of the Mont-Valérien shootings, the representation «These foreigners of the shadow» allows us to reflect on the contribution of foreigners in the Resistance, facing the enemies of Freedom. This piece aims to shed light on the contemporary issues and challenges that are shaking our societies. Thanks to a staging adapted to the visit of Mont-Valérien, the actors manage to give life to the contributions of foreigners in the French Resistance, to recount their acts of courage and their endangerment to free France from the occupier. This representation shows the journey of the young FTP-MOI (Franc-Tireur Partisan – Main d'œuvre Immigrae) in occupied France, until the execution of the members of the «Affiche Rouge», at Mont-Valérien on February 21, 1944 and during a military vigil in the Vosges with an officer of the colonial troops. This artistic evocation of the Resistance thus makes it possible to honor the careers of these men and women who, although they came from elsewhere, took part in the battles of the Liberation and engaged in the fight against Nazism and collaboration.

À propos du lieu

Mémorial du Mont-Valérien
Avenue du Professeur Léon-Bernard 92150 Suresnes

A medieval place of worship that became a military fortress during the 19th century, Mont-Valérien was the main place where resistance fighters and hostages were executed in France by the German army during the Second World War.
The multiplicity of the routes of the 1008 shot, allows us today to describe the diversity. After the war, the site was chosen to honour the memory of the dead for France from 1939 to 1945, and on June 18, 1960, General de Gaulle inaugurated the Memorial of Fighting France.
These men, assassinated because they were resisters, hostages, Jews or communists are as many reminders to our history that naturally made this site the first of the High places of national memory of the Ministry of Armies, today managed by the National Board of Veterans and Victims of War.
