Historical tour of the school
History teachers and students studying History of the Arts will present the history of the school and take you to the school’s heritage rooms, SVT and physics laboratories.
At the end of the visit, you will be able to attend experiments on old physics devices, presented by our fellow teachers of this discipline.

The Lycée Janson de Sailly opened its doors on October 13, 1884\. It embodies the wishes expressed by Alexandre-Emmanuel-François Janson in his will. In fact, this wealthy bourgeois bequeathed to the University «all the free money from my succession» at the expense of “Create in Paris an institution under the name of Collège Janson, where young people distinguished by their filial love and aged at least twelve will receive the education of the humanities.” The work was entrusted to the architect Charles Laisné with the mission of carrying out according to the wishes of Jules Ferry, then Minister of Public Instruction and Fine Arts, “the high school of new times … we want to install, as in this model high school, the vast courtyards, the beautiful shade, the light, the sun, everything that is needed for children as for plants, because they live first of all like them, of sun and open air”.
