Guided tour of the mansion of the faubourg Saint-Germain, typical of the late nineteenth century, which housed the headquarters of the Rassemblement du peuple français (RPF), a movement created by General de Gaulle in 1947. The office he occupied there from 1947 to 1958 remained unchanged.
The visit allows you to discover:
- the private mansion itself, its architecture and history. It remains one of the few today not to have undergone transformations in its structure and decorations, which are classified as historical monuments.
- the action of General de Gaulle, president of the Rassemblement du Peuple français during the Fourth Republic, a period rich in political battles, a prelude to his return to power in 1958.
The visit includes an exhibition, interventions of specialists (architect, historians, archivist...), a film projection, a playful space for the young audience.
The detailed programme will be published on the Charles de Gaulle Foundation website in early September: www.charles-de-gaulle.org
