Come (re)discover this discreet and sober church of the seventeenth century... which nevertheless houses rich works of art, collected and offered throughout the nineteenth century. Behind the scaffolding and tarpaulins that conceal the work of the restorers and reduce the large organs to silence**, let yourself** tell the story of the building of a church, closely linked to the development of Île Saint-Louis; its innovative architecture, characteristic of the Catholic Counter-Reformation; its epic safeguard during the revolutionary period; its abundant ornamentation, due to the generosity of an exceptional parish priest; some of its many stained glass windows, paintings and sculptures. Let yourself be introduced to Saint Geneviève, patron saint of the diocese, and Saint Louis, patron saint of the parish. Leaflets in French and English are also at your disposal to guide you through the church, to present the ongoing restoration campaign.

The first one(night) young chapel was built on the island Saint-Louis between 1620 and 1622 further to the urbanization of the island in the first years of the XVIIth century. The current church was begun from 1646\. Having built according to the plans of François Le Vau (younger brother of Louis Le Vau) and conducted by different architects, the church was dedicated in 1726\. Of classic style, the main originality of its plan is to combine a flat bedhead and an ambulatory, what is unique(only) for a church of the XVIIth century. Many works of art in kinds(genres) and materials the most diverse, dating the from XIVth centuries till XXth centuries: painting(paint) of Van Loo, Charles Coypel, Nicolas Srella, a remarkable polychrome wooden sculpture (XVth century), ceramics (XVIITH - XVIIITH centuries), from reliefs in alabaster (XIVth century), stained-glass windows on Saint-Louis and its family. The organ was created and installed(settled) in 2005.
