The Françoise-Sagan multimedia library, nestled in the Saint-Lazare garden, seems today a haven of peace close to the tumult of the 10th station. It replaced a preserved hospital-infirmary during the demolition of the Saint-Lazare prison in 1940. This prison, created during the Revolution, was itself the result of the transformation of the buildings of a gigantic religious estate, the clos Saint-Lazare, not yet urbanized in the early nineteenth century. The visit is scheduled in three stages from 3 pm to 5 pm:

  • Auditorium: introductory presentation in images and maps of the successive metamorphoses of the place,
  • Visit of the multimedia library to its panoramic roof,
  • Wandering in the immediate vicinity of the media library, discovering traces of the past in the southeast part of Clos Saint-Lazare.

The Françoise-Sagan media library joins an emblematic place of Parisian history(story), Square Saint-Lazare, which exists for the XIIth century. First leper hospital then Congregation of the Mission of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, he(it) is transformed into place of detention under Revolution, then into prison-hospital for women at the beginning of the XIXth century. The current building(ship) is what stays of the hospital established in the XIXth century by Louis-Pierre Baltard.
