The Faculté de théologie protestante de Paris is one of the two components of the Protestant Institute of Theology, along with the Faculté de théologie protestante de Montpellier. It trains the pastors of the United Protestant Church of France (EPUdF), and receives students through multilateral exchanges with other universities.
It is a private institution of higher education, awarding bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees. The IPT is classified as an EESPIG (Établissement d'Enseignement Supérieur Privé d'Intérêt Général).
Located in the heart of the 14th arrondissement of Paris, it boasts a garden that can also be visited.

The Faculty of Protestant Theology of Paris was created in 1877, within the framework of the University of Paris, to replace the Faculty of Strasbourg which became German. In 1905, following the law of separation of the Churches and the State, the faculty became free, at the expense of the Reformed Churches of France and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of France. Funded mainly by contributions from the United Protestant Church of France, the Protestant Theological Institute has been supported by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research since 1981\. The Institute is the tool for the formation of the pastors (also called "ministers") of this Church. The research and teaching of theology are organized around four major axes: biblical texts, the history of Christianity, systematic theology and practical theology.
