Saint-Christophe de Javel Church

Built between 1926 and 1930 by Besnard, it is one of the few churches where the technique of reinforced moulded cement was used to realize every element of the construction site. This process put at the service of a traditional Gothic aesthetic leaves room for the works of artists of the time: Jacques Martin-Ferrières, Henri-Marcel Magne, Jacques Gruber

À propos du lieu

Église Saint-Christophe de Javel
28 rue de la Convention 75015 Paris

Built from 1926 to 1930 by architect Charles-Henri Bernard, the church is dedicated to St.Christopher, patron of travelers, because of the old importance in the Javel district of the transport industries (rail, air and automobile). The means of transport of the time are represented on the decors. This is one of the very few churches where the innovative technique of reinforced cement is used to make each element, then erected on the site. This process is put at the service of a traditional neo-Gothic aesthetic.
