Immerse yourself in living history at the European Heritage Days in Citéco! By opening its doors free of charge, this prestigious museum invites you to discover several exceptional treasures: First, the Beaurains treasure, which is revealed to the public with its timeless splendor. It is an exceptional collection of coins, jewellery and silverware discovered by chance in 1922 by Belgian workers. The ensemble, classified as a National Treasure, is a unique opportunity to discover the currencies of a time gone. Then dive into the captivating exhibition-folder entitled "Abbé Pierre, making war against poverty". Through evocative photographs and poignant quotes, explore the life of one of France’s most beloved personalities. Abbé Pierre embodies a voice that still resonates today, reminding us of the importance of constant solidarity in our society. Finally, get lost in the majestic Hotel Gaillard. Listed as a Historic Monument, the building reflects the evolution of our heritage. Do not miss this unique opportunity to experience history, celebrate living heritage and inspire yourself with Abbé Pierre’s accomplishments. At Citéco, immerse yourself in an enriching experience that reflects our collective heritage.

Citéco - Cité de l'économie

The Cité de l'Économie opened its doors in June 2019\. The first museum in Europe dedicated to the economy, it offers a permanent exhibition and a rich and varied cultural program to discover the major concepts and mechanisms of the economy. His approach is playful and interactive.
It takes place in the Hotel Gaillard, an exceptional neo-Renaissance hotel built at the end of the 19th century, entirely listed as a historical monument, largely inspired by the west wing of the Château de Blois. Upon the death of Emile Gaillard, its sponsor, in 1902, the hotel went on sale. The Banque de France acquired it in 1919 to establish a branch there, active from 1922 to 2006\. The entire building has been restored and rehabilitated to accommodate Citéco in 2019.
