A thousand years of history through decorations from around the world
The Legion of Honour Museum welcomes its visitors with 5000 objects of art, costumes and insignia, integrated into their geopolitical context and tracing the history of French and foreign distinctions, from the Middle Ages to the 21st century. His museography combines solemnity and pedagogy. Interactive screens allow visitors to understand the current functioning of the Legion of Honour and also give access to the list of all French people decorated with the Legion of Honour since 1950. A same digital device is available to the public in the room of the National Order of Merit that closes the visit route around the statue of General de Gaulle. With its triple historical, sociological and artistic dimension, the Legion of Honour Museum is destined to appeal to a wide audience: lovers of beautiful objects, history lovers, enthusiasts of the Legion of Honour and the First Empire, specialists in decorations, or tourists curious to discover the treasures of a French institution.
