Created in 1564 by Catherine de Medici, the Tuileries Garden is now rich in nearly 3,000 trees. They form structuring sets (alignments, groves), but also have remarkable subjects (isolated trees or left free). What care is provided to young and older subjects? What choices have guided recent plantations? How to respond to the challenges posed by global warming? This walking tour will fascinate all lovers of gardens, history and biodiversity. Guided tour by Anoucha Camus, assistant to the head of the Louvre’s gardens department.

But this garden is also contemporary: it was regenerated by Pascal Cribier and Louis Benech in the 1990s. Beautifully maintained by a dedicated team of art gardeners and sculptural restorers, it depends on the under-management of the gardens of the Louvre Museum. A veritable open-air sculpture museum, rich in masterpieces ranging from the 17th century to contemporary art, the Tuileries Garden offers walkers flowers renewed every year and varied atmospheres. You should not hesitate to enjoy the cafés and restaurants, children’s
