The Saint-Jacques chapel, formerly known as the church of the great cemetery of Mantes, was founded in the eleventh century by a named Martin (or Guillaume) of Ascon, who gave it to the chaplains of the lepers. Demolished for the first time during the wars of religion, it was rebuilt, then destroyed again by the ligueur de Brissac. The present chapel corresponds to the building rebuilt from 1605 to 1623\. It was later assigned to the service of the general hospital, founded in 1688\. Today, it hosts temporary exhibitions, shows and concerts. Its nave is covered by a chestnut vault and its floor has tombstones, probably used to pave it during its reconstruction in the seventeenth century.
