On July 12, 1789, Camille Desmoulins exorcised the crowd to take up arms at La Bastille hoisted on a table of the Café de Foy located in the garden. Built for the Cardinal de Richelieu by the architect Lemercier, builder of the Sorbonne, the main body (1634), facing the Louvre, becomes royal residence (Regency of Anne of Austria) then of the family of Orléans from 1661\.
