Guided tour of the exhibition "Gravement bô" which pays tribute to Vincent Van Gogh
Gravely bô
Commented visit of an exhibition of contemporary artists who pay tribute to Vincent Van Gogh: what influence does he have on these artists, what are the triggers that have engaged their achievements, what formal problems have been addressed? Vincent Van Gogh is part of the imagination of today’s artists. He interests us and encourages us in more than one way: - He is a late artist who starts his career at 27. Without initial technical training, he cultivated himself on the artistic level by exercising several years, from the age of 16, the profession of seller of paintings. Period during which he visited many museums. - He later formed contact with other painters. Despite his personal difficulties, he is a person who constantly seeks exchange, via correspondence, and the company of artists, until installing a house during his stay in Arles to welcome them in a "workshop-refuge" and to create a situation of professional debate. Gauguin will live there for two months. - The works of his maturity bear witness to a freedom that is free from the conventions and pictorial rules of the time. The exhibition includes plastic creations that cover different contemporary practices: photography, installations, participatory devices, paintings... proposed by Agata-Agapoly, Cécile Baudoncourt, Roseline Bigi, Céline Bocquet, Patricia d'isola, Christiane Edmond, Sandrine Gatignol, Barbara Goraczko, Minna Kokko, Christophe Le Francois, Marianne Le Vexier, Louis, Sophie Patry, Agata Preyzner, Teruhisa Suzuki, Tâm, Françoise Veron Goldstein.
