Mgallery La Licorne
20 bis Quai Dampierre 10000 Troyes
At Christmas 1445, the foundation stone of a private school of Grammar was laid allowing young Trojans to follow a teaching in Latin. Already called Hotel de la Licorne, the place became in the 16th century a college under municipal authority to «educate children». In 1630, it was transformed into a convent for the sisters of the Congregation of Notre-Dame and then that of the Good Shepherd. They teach there for free for young girls. At the time of the French Revolution, the building became the property of the department of Aube, which in 1792 installed the Maréchaussée military, newly named «Gendarmerie Nationale». They stayed there until 2017.
