Mathieu GIRARD

Stroll through the charming streets and alleys of this Petite Cité de Caractère® de Champagne. The heart of the old town will offer you at first glance a very mineral aspect: ancient architectural heritage, dense urban buildings, cobbled streets and alleys, fountains and stone wells. But when you walk in Sézanne, you will immediately notice touches and green spots, trees, squares, gardens, playgrounds, and the green belt of the mails – these ancient medieval ramparts filled up in the 18th century – planted with double or quadruple rows of lime trees.
At the rhythm of the walk, looking all around you and looking up, you will probably have the impression of going back in time. History has left its mark on the city over the centuries.
Discover the places with our guided tour and let yourself be told the history of Sézanne.

A rich and diversified territory that is born in Brie and flourishes in Champagne. South-West Marnais is a region of hillsides and vineyards (the Coteaux Sézannais classified as World Heritage by UNESCO since 2015), forests and marshes, between valleys and plains, wrapped around a charming medieval town become Small City of Character: Sézanne.
The path then leads to Anglure and Esternay, where history has marked the towns between the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the industrial era.
The Sud-Ouest Marnais is also distinguished by its flavors, its know-how and its local values, visible through crafts. Passionate men and women share their jobs and offer pleasant moments of relaxation.
