À propos du lieu

Monastère Sainte-Claire

The monastery is inhabited by a community of about thirty nuns. They follow the rule of Saint Clare of Assisi (1193-1253).
The community of Reims was founded during the lifetime of Saint Claire in 1220\. After a stop related to the French Revolution around 1792, it was reformed in 1933 in the suburbs of Reims at Tinqueux by the Poor Clares monastery of Nantes. Transferred since 2000 to the commune of Cormontreuil, the nuns live their life of prayer in simplicity and fraternal life. They make hosts (bread for Catholic worship) and have a monastic reception house. The chapel is open all year round to come and participate in their prayers or enjoy a time of solitude.
