The University Library of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of Nancy was created at the same time as the campus, in the early 1960s, by the architects Jacques (1904-1985) and Michel (1905-1975) André.
At the end of the 20th century, around 1995, the needs of use necessitated an enlargement which was entrusted to the architect Jean-Luc André, born in 1939, son of Michel André. It is on this occasion that the extension of the library is the subject of a 1% artistic commission, carried out by the artist Cécile Bart in 1995.
