Castle stained glass windows
This year the royal castle of Blois wanted to associate the Blésois with an event that takes place in its walls: the restoration of the stained glass windows of the Chapelle Saint Calais.
Neighborhood houses, art associations and the art school were invited to reinterpret the stained glass windows of our monument.
A total of 8 participating groups, more than 80 children, teenagers and adults, came to discover the stained glass windows of the castle and manufacturing techniques with our guided speakers. Then a second visit in partnership with the service City of Art and History allowed them to discover other examples of stained-glass windows in the heritage of Blésois by visiting a monument in their neighborhood.
The goal was to highlight all the richness and variety of stained glass windows present in our city and that its inhabitants become actors in the enhancement of these often unknown elements, offering us a new artistic look with their creations.
Following these visits, each group works in the partner structures with their plastic art teacher, to create their own stained glass windows that will be exhibited at the castle during the 2023 Heritage Days.
