The first strengthened point in XI ° century is a quadrangular donjon in the northwest of a rocky headland dominating the valley of the Loir(Dormouse). The medieval surrounding wall(speaker) walls of which are still partly visible a date of the XIIth century. She(It) is dominated by the said tower of Poitiers, chief tour(tower,ballot) which participated in a defensive device(plan) reinforced in XV ° century. It stays nothing of large homes built in XV ° and XVI ° centuries because after working period important in XVII ° century commanded(ordered) by the duke Caesar of Vendôme, son justified by Henry IV, the castle is abandoned to pass finally in the field of the Crown in 1712\. Revolutionary sale is going to divide the castle up and contributes to its transformation(processing) in XIX ° in a romantic park in the sinuous paths. The majestic cedar crashed in 1807 and the panoramic view on the city are climax(pauses) of this park of 6 hectare enjoyment(approval). A collection of hydrangeas presents many varieties created by Emile Mouillère and his(her) descendants, vendômois horticulturalists of the end of XIX ° up to the environment(middle) of 1950s. The visitor can so rediscover these vendômoises varieties of international fame, fruits of a patient work of crossing and of selection.
