It is perched on a small hill from which one dominates the surrounding landscape. In 1870, according to legend, Claude Gindre promised to build a chapel if the Prussians did not cross the Loire. As was the case in 1873, a chapel was built. Like its model that dominates the Saône, the small chapel dominates the Vauvise valley.
