Guided tour of Huisseau-sur-Mauves - Huisseau at the time of the castles
Huisseau-sur-Mauves is a small village of character whose long history can still be read today in its stones. Follow Alice on this unique guided tour! The visit allows to discover the history of the castle of Montpipeau, removed from the village and destroyed at the Revolution. It was the seat of one of the most powerful seigneuries of Orléans. The second castle sits in the village and belongs to the De Robien family since the Middle Ages. Instead of the present 19th century church, a medieval sanctuary has left its mark in the garden of the presbytery, of which we can see the capitals. Just like in the nearby village of Saint-Ay, the church is full of paintings, sculptures, but also a chapel painted by Marius Chatouillat, a soldier wounded during the First World War.
