The Palace of Justice of Chartres is distributed over two buildings historical monuments. The court first occupied the former seminary 11 rue du Cardinal Pie. The main building was built according to plans drawn up in 1722, but completed only in 1735\. The chapel was built in 1772 and 1773\. This building became criminal court in 1793 was the seat of the departmental archives until 2006 and occupied by court services today. Since 1811, the court has been installed in the chapel of the Carmelite convent, whose facade dates from 1668 (in the photo). Its author is Gabriel Le Maire, master mason of Chartres, who will have his burial there.
