Born in 1914, Henriette de Mornac, a graduate in Classical Letters and Philosophy, gave up teaching and joined the Red Cross with her Jesuit friends in 1939. During the occupation, Henriette took over the head of the Maison Maternelle d'Orléans, relocated to the Château du Bouchet in St Denis in Val, with the aim of collecting mother daughters. In 1942, Henriette accepted, at his own risk, to hide dozens of Jewish women and their children there. She will benefit from the help of the local population and Father Fleury’s network, to ensure their protection. In 1979, the year of his retirement as a teacher, Henriette received the highest distinction awarded by the State of Israel, the Medal of the Just, thanks to the diligence performed by Father Fleury, anxious to have the action of the members of his network recognized.
