Exhibition Fanny Ferré, Apparitions (sculpture)
Fanny Ferré was born on June 6, 1963 in Évreux (Eure). She discovered pottery with her father at the age of 9. Very young, I had only one pleasure: to be at home to create series of small characters in the ground. I was lucky enough to have parents who supported me. They took pictures of the first sculptures to make albums. This attention encouraged me…” At the age of fifteen, she decided to devote a whole year to modelling. From 1980 to 1983 she studied at L'École des Beaux-Arts d'Angers, and in 1983 joined Georges Jeanclos’s sculpture workshop at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. From 1984 to 1985, she did an internship at the experimental workshop of the Sèvres manufacture, and the following year, she took the direct cutting course at Jean Cardot’s workshop in Paris. In 1990, she was awarded the Bleustein-Blanchet Foundation for her vocation. Apparitions For 3 years, I couldn’t work, it didn’t make sense anymore. I didn’t have a subject. I didn’t believe in it anymore. I was under the impression that I had done everything. It’s been going on for six months now, and it took something outside. For me, what happened was an apparition. These are all my characters that I have already made, but with an external element that disturbs them, shake them up in their daily life». It was on that theme that I was able to restart. I feel like I’m reliving, opening a new door.”
