Located at the bottom of a valley, at the end of the hamlet, the chapel of Barain, preceded by its cemetery appears isolated in an environment still preserved.
Listed as a Historic Monument on July 4, 2000, the chapel of the hamlet of Barain in Avosnes is an interesting composite building which, although soberly built, presents a remarkable interior decor, These decorations were attributed to the Marca brothers, Italian stuccoers who had worked extensively in Franche-Comté. A similar decoration exists in the chapel of Montigny-Montfort, in Côte-d'Or.
On the outside, the presence of old coatings, probably from the sixteenth century, with vestiges of coat of arms dating from the eighteenth century and contemporary interior decoration is a rare element to emphasize.

This part of the chapel, with crossed ribs and Romanesque openings is the oldest (15th). It was enlarged successively by the addition of a nave (early sixteenth century), a porch (sixteenth century), a sacristy (eighteenth century). Originally the blanket was made of lava. The rain managed to infiltrate and puncture the vault. Members of the Association for the Conservation of Religious Buildings who were on an excursion to this area initiated the renovation of the roof. The Association gave a large grant, a woman made a donation, the General Council and the commune completed. Thus a new roof, much less prett
