Welcome to the anise factory, installed in a former Benedictine abbey and in one of the «Most Beautiful Villages of France».
The Anise of Flavigny is a small candy dredged, containing in its heart a seed of green anise. This is the oldest sweet in France, dating from at least 1591. At that time, it was made by monks until the French Revolution. Since then, tradition and know-how have continued from generation to generation. Today, the factory is labeled «Living heritage company».
Come and discover the Anis of Flavigny through its different professions, its know-how and its 400 years long history.

In the heart of the former Benedictine abbey of the Anis of Flavigny, we choose our seeds of green anise, in August, after their harvest. Then we put the seeds in the large basins and pour a sugar syrup over them. The rolling seeds, gradually they grow, covering themselves with successive thin layers of syrup. This rotation in the basins also allows the surface of the candies to smooth. It is a delicate and patient work. It takes the dragist 15 days to pass the small seed from just two milligrams to the one gram candy. Come visit our manufacturing site to dive into the heart of our production. The tour can start with a free visit to the factory where you can discover the know-how and history of the pretty oval boxes, an identical recipe for 400 years. The Museum, two beautiful vaulted pieces of the abbey, traces the epic of anise. The shop allows you to have a tea and taste the different aromas.
