The Bohler collection is a photographic collection that covers major events and the daily life of Villeneuve-sur-Yonne. It presents the photographs of three generations of photographers: André and Jacqueline Bohler, successors of Marcel and Réjane Fadat who kept the photography shop created by the Duclos, at 12 rue du commerce in Villeneuve-sur-Yonne. Some of these valuable testimonies were acquired in 1994 by the Departmental Council of Yonne, then another part was given to the municipality in 2012 in addition to photographic material. First presented to Villeneuviens in 1991 during the «Exhibition 1920-1970, photographic studios of Villeneuve-sur-Yonne» then in 2002 with the exhibition «1925-1940 portraits Villeneuviens» at the Musée Galerie Carnot, and during the 2022 Heritage Days, this fund is intended to be consulted and accessible, thus allowing researchers but also curious and lovers of the city to find in the photographs a trace of its ancestors, a testimony of the highlights of the communal life, thus perpetuating both the memory of the city and that of these photographers.
The exhibition presents some of these photographs, which have been commented on by the inhabitants themselves on the theme of the “Living Heritage” of Heritage Days 2023.
