Inaugurated in 1999, the Memorial carries and disseminates the values of its founders, Résistants et Déportés de la Loire: valorization of commitment, promotion of living together, fight against discrimination and any form of extremism. Since its opening, faced with the disappearance of the last witnesses, and with the help of the Jean Monnet University, the Municipal and Departmental Archives, the Memorial has acquired a real legitimacy over the period of the Second World War. It is intended to be an important resource space for the department during this period of history. Faced with a constantly changing world and the concerns of the younger generations, the Memorial has added to its field of expertise the issues of the contemporary world. He thus sees the past as a tool in the service of the present time so that his learning allows a better understanding of current situations, sometimes analogous.
