On the occasion of the 40th edition of the European Heritage Days, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, closed for works, invites you to discover its exhibition of the design collection Histoires d'intérieurs at the Cité du design.
The exhibition Stories of Interiors offers an immersion in the uses and lifestyles of the 1930s to the present and opens the doors of an imaginary house composed of 6 rooms, through a selection of nearly 120 timeless, familiar or new objects.
On the weekend agenda:
ALL PUBLIC: free visit Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm
→ ALL PUBLIC: free visit Saturday and Sunday throughout the day "From the Manufacture d'Armes de Saint-Étienne to the National Gallery of Design, 1864-2025" 6 panels retrace the history of the site, from 1864 until the inauguration of the National Design Gallery in spring 2025. A mediator is present to answer your questions. Location: H 242 building
→ ALL AUDIENCES: "zoom" tours Saturday and Sunday throughout the day This selection of objects in the exhibition will shed light on the MAMC+ design collection. Time: approximately 30 minutes
→ ADULTS: discovery tour Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 pm Discover the secrets of the objects that populate the exhibition. Duration: 1 hour From 15 years.
→ FAMILIES: family visit Saturday and Sunday at 4 pm These visits offer an intergenerational approach to the exhibition. They can be punctuated by manipulations, tales or games: new discoveries for all desires! Duration: 1 hour. From 5 years old.
→ YOUNG AUDIENCE: visit "at my height" Sunday at 10 am Watch the works, discuss, reflect, ask questions... these routes entirely dedicated to children – without parents! – make them discover the mysteries of the exhibition with a discovery of the Magic House. Duration: 1 hour. From 4 to 6 years
→ YOUNG AUDIENCE: visit "at my height" Sunday at 11:15 Watch the works, discuss, reflect, ask questions... these routes entirely dedicated to children – without parents! – unlock the mysteries of the exhibition. Duration: 1 hour. From 7 to 12 years
→ YOUNG AUDIENCE: active visit Saturday at 10 am Handling materials and objects, learning to watch works: a fun experience to discover the exhibition and develop your creativity! Duration: 1 hour 30 From 7 to 10 years
→ YOUNG AUDIENCE: Magic House Saturday at 2 pm, 3 pm, 4 pm and 5 pm A space of exploration and experimentation for 0-6 years Echoing the exhibition Stories of interiors, this artistic device of designer Adrien Rovero (co-produced by mille formes - city of Clermont-Ferrand and the Centre Pompidou) invites young children from 0 to 6 years old to discover differently the rooms of the house and its elements. Playful and welcoming, Magic House diverts the usual use of objects and spaces. An upsetting experience where the impossible becomes possible! Duration: about 45 minutes From 0 to 6 years

The City(Estate) of the design-college of higher education of art and design groups(includes) since January, 2010 the City(Estate) of design and the College of higher education of art and design of Saint-Etienne, gathered(combined) on the same site: the old(former) weapons factory of Saint-Etienne. Having carried by the City of Saint-Etienne, Saint-Etienne Metropolis, the Region Rhône-Alpes and the State (Ministry of Culture), it is a platform of higher education, of research(search), economic development and promotion(valuation) around design and around art. The main missions of the City(Estate) of design are the following: ›the raising awareness of all public in design; ›the development of innovation by design; ›research(search) in design;› the production of well-known events such as the Design International Biennial event Saint-Etienne or the annual exhibitions(exposures) in Saint-Etienne and on the international stage. The City(Estate) of design sensitises all public in design. One of the first missions of the City(Estate) of design is the raising awareness of all public in design: professionals, public actors, academics, general public, etc. The City(Estate) of design acquired different tools to address all: guided tours for the individual or the professionals, awareness-raising activities of the general public and of the professionals, public young workshops(studios), publishing(editions), colloquiums and conferences. She sets up a specific welcome(reception) for the school and university public by many guided tours and pedagogic files(cases) created specifically for the teachers. The City(Estate) of design works also closely with the Education: trainings(formations) of the teachers with PREAC (Pole(Centre) of resources for the arts education and cultural) and projects led with CDDP (Departmental Centre of Pedagogic Documentation). The City(Estate) of design produces well-known events. One of the tools allowing this raising awareness is the creation of events allowing the discovery of design and its taking over: exhibitions(exposures), Design International Biennial event Saint-Étienne, colloquiums, conferences, etc. These events allow to give an account of the current evolution of design in the company(society) and to make known the potential of innovation of design. The City(Estate) of design creates so on the territory stéphanois of annual big(great) delightful meetings(appointments) tackling(approaching) design by diverse themes to make it discover all its scopes.
