Statue Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur "la Madone"
Le Mas-Rillier, montée neuve, 01700 Miribel
The story began with the arrival at the Mas Rillier of Father Thomas, an Oratorian, who became parish priest in 1931\. Suffering from tuberculosis, he had recommended himself to the Virgin Mary under the name of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart: once healed, he promised to thank her worthily and, in 1932, he had a stature raised to the effigy of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart on the altar of the church. The whole religious history of the site began on a beautiful summer morning in 1932\. A group of girls and a nun came on pilgrimage to thank the Virgin: having asked for grace, they were answered. The news spread in the region with astonishing rapidity. Mas Rillier then became a high place of Marian pilgrimage. Father Thomas, who wanted something more grandiose to pay homage to the Virgin, decided to erect a statue on the site of the old castle of Miribel, historical site inviting to prayer and meditation by the beauty of its panorama on the reliefs of 7 departments.
