Founded in 1984 by the former Resistance fighters of the Secret Army of the Loire, the museum was completely renovated in 1999 to open to the younger generations. The 20th century history museum is designed as a place of memory, but also as an educational and cultural tool. More than a memorial to the episode of August 1944 in Estivareilles, it is a space for reflection and debate on contemporary problems in the light of past events. Testify, Explain, Transmit are the objectives of this citizen museum. The museum presentation has been designed to be accessible to all and especially for young audiences. “Witness objects” but also soundtracks, archival images, numerous photographs and videos... mark out a museum route suitable for the whole family.
