A 1-hour guided tour of the LA MACHE SCHOOL by students of the school following optional training HISTORY OF THE ARTS. Postcards published in 1936 at the time of the school’s inauguration were printed in large format and permanently installed in the school on the premises they show. Thus the visit will allow a permanent return trip between the original construction and its reality today. This photographic journey shows the architectural and educational ambition of the designers, Abbé La Mache and the architect Georges CURTELIN. The route will start on Jean XXIII Boulevard and will allow visitors to admire the main façade of the school which remains identical to what it was in 1936. The tour will then take visitors to the school premises with multiple stages, from the school hall to the refectory, classrooms, the remarkable chapel and the new workshops. The characteristic elements of the architecture of the 1930s are still very present and numerous in the buildings. They will be commented on and contrasted with emblematic buildings of the 1930s, including, of course, the nearby and historic sites built by Tony Garnier of the Edouard Herriot Hospital and the United States district, of which Georges Curtelin was a student.
