La Voir Au Public

The Lavoir Public, an emblematic site of the Pentes de la Croix-Rousses. The Lavoir Public is part of a municipal complex called the Flesselles Complex, built in 1934 by architects V. A. Robert and J. Marin. Located at 4 impasse Flesselles, it is now included in the UNESCO zone of the City of Lyon. From the beginning of the 80s the municipal wash-house was only open on weekends and was used to wash large pieces of cloth such as carpets. It was closed between the late 80’s and the early 90’s following the discovery of cracks in the basin and left empty until the 2010’s. It is since 2013 that the Lavoir is used as a cultural equipment.
La Voir Au Public is now an associative structure designed in-situ , which offers artistic residencies, inclusive and evenings . A poly-artistic and accessible program including dance, concert theatre...
The association is run by a team of 10 volunteers.
