On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, discover the National Memorial of the Montluc prison, the only prison in France preserved in its entirety and accessible to the public.
All visitors benefit from an introduction to the history of the Montluc prison and then discover the site freely by having access to many spaces, including the former women’s detention district, closed in 2009, exceptionally open to visitors for the European Heritage Days.
SATURDAY ONLY: The Memorial is engaged, between 2022 and 2025, in a vast project of restoration and rehabilitation of part of its building. Visit the site, accompanied by the companies commissioned for this major work, and discover the problems specific to the conservation of a site listed as Historic Monuments.
